One of the many philosophical lessons taught to us in the Pirates of the Caribbean saga is that sometimes it is necessary to summon the Kraken.
Thankfully, in web design, that means less giant squid and more Kraken image optimization, which is a web tool we have been working with that makes the websites we make for you load faster.
Basically, Kraken takes an image within its slimy, intensely strong tentacles and squashes it into a smaller file. Smaller files are easier for your customers’ web browsers to download. It’s kind of like how demolishing a pirate ship into tiny wooden shards makes it much easier to sink.
The Kraken is just one ancient mythological being we are willing to work with to make your website exactly as you need it to be: clear, precise, and just as importantly, streamlined and fast-loading.
Razorfrog is now including this service in all new projects and we’re optimizing our existing clients’ sites one at a time. Here are a few great examples of the power of Kraken.io:
KZSC Santa Cruz: Over 3500 images compressed by up to 50%
Nomad Rugs: Over 9000 images compressed by approximately 30% for a savings of over 4GB in total library size.
And don’t forget our own site, now with a 91/100 performance ranking:
