About the KZSC Santa Cruz 88.1FM website

KZSC Radio is the college radio station of UC Santa Cruz, broadcasting independent music, news and community programming to listeners in Santa Cruz and around the world. We first launched the station’s website in 2010, completed a full redesign in 2018 and returned in 2026 for a targeted refresh focused on accessibility, improved color contrast and a more streamlined user experience.

The site uses Spinitron Player (opens in a new tab), a custom WordPress plugin developed by Razorfrog, to integrate with Spinitron and display live playlist, show and DJ information throughout the site. SoundCloud integration also makes archived audio and other content easy to explore. Listeners can stream KZSC live directly from the website or through the station’s mobile app (opens in a new tab), which Razorfrog also designed and developed and is available on the Apple App Store.

The redesign introduced a new logo, high contrast color palette and a more engaging interface that reflects KZSC’s distinct personality. More recent updates refined the existing design rather than replacing it, improving usability and accessibility while preserving the character of the station.
